Federer denied at Basel Finals

Roger Federer was defeated in his homeland tournament finals in Basel, being defeated by Juan Martin del Potro with a game count of 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-6(3).
Though my prediction was wrong, the results were not too surprising to me. Roger Federer and Juan Martin del Potro faced each other in the Summer Olympics semi finals, and the match lasted for 4 hours and 26 minutes, and the final set’s game count was 19-17. You can see that both players battled hard in the Summer Olympics and in Basel. This year’s Basel finals was another fierce match between the two players, but the winner ended up being different.

It’s a bummer that Federer could not win this years Swiss Indoors Tournament, but he can still aim for a title in Paris.

In other news, David Ferrer won the Valencia Open, dismissing the dark horse of the tournament, Alexandr Dolgopolov, with a score of 6-1, 3-6, and 6-4.
