Gael Monfils vs Andreas Seppi Prediction
First, I would like to apologize for my wrong prediction on the Monfils vs Kohlschreiber match.
Philipp Kohlscreiber was leading the first set 4-1, but Gael Monfils started to come back and the match went into a tie-break. Both players didn’t seem to be playing well on the first set, judging by the many unforced errors, and negative body signs from both players. Philipp Kohlschreiber ended up keeping the first set with a count of 7-6(3).
Both players didn’t seem to play well until the second set at 2-2. It was Kohlschreiber’s service game, and the score was 40-40. Monfils started hitting balls hard, and the momentum was on Monfil’s side. He then broke Kohschreiber’s serve and was able to keep his next service game in under one minute. That’s when Monfils started to go on a roll. Gael Monfils then took 2 sets despite the fact that he was 1 set down, and the match ended with a game count of 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4, with Monfils winning the battle.
Gael Monfils will be advancing onto the semi-finals where he will face Andreas Seppi of Italy. Seppi’s highest rank was number 24 which was in June this year. He currently is positioned as the 28th player in the ATP Rankings. Andreas Seppi defeated Mikhail Youzhny with a game count of 7-5, 6-2, in the quarter-finals, but I believe that Monfils will be able to win against the Italian.
Gael Monfils and Andreas Seppi faced each other a total of 4 times, but their last match was 2 years ago. A lot of things could happen in two years.
Monfils should be careful on Seppi’s service game, because Seppi kept 97% of his first service points in his last match against Mikhail Youzhny. Ninety-seven percent is a terrifying number. I swear.
However, I predict that Gael Monfils will be able to win the match in three sets.
