U.S. Open Day 6 – Highlights

My prediction of the Nishikori vs Cilic match was correct!

At first, I was watching the Kei Nishikori vs Marin Cilic match, but Nishikori didn’t seemed to be playing well, with quick errors and not being able to convert break points. The result of that match was 3-1, and Marin Cilic won the match by 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Nishikori hit 8 double faults and hit 37 unforced errors and 32 winners. While for Marin Cilic, he hit 4 double faults and hit 46 unforced errors, but he was able to cover that by hitting 46 winners.

Marin Cilic was playing very well during the match. He was hitting the ball hard and solidly, ripping epic backhand and forehand winners. Marin Cilic will face the player who defeated Tsonga in the second round of the US Open, Martin Klizan. Klizan also defeated Jeremy Chardy, the number 32 seed, in the third round of the US Open with a score of 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4. He is on a roll baby!

Other results –

Nicolas Almagro v.s. Jack Sock – 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-1. (Three tie-breaks in a row. VERY tiring.)

Andy Murray v.s. Garcia-Lopez – 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6. (Three tie-breaks. AGAIN!)

In other news, Federer defeated Fernando Verdasco in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Federer will be facing Mardy Fish in the fourth round of the US Open.

That concludes the day 6 highlights.
