Atlanta Tennis Championships – Highlights so far

The Atlanta Tennis Championships started a couple of days ago on July 16th, 2012, and there are already some surprising results to be announced. Since Atlanta is located in America Georgia, many American players are participating in this tournament.

Donald Young, who is ranked 58th in the world rankings and is currently 22 years old, has been defeated by Steve Johnson who is 344 below Donald in the Atlanta Championships. Both players are American tennis players, and are the same age as well. Steve Johnson is currently 402th place  in the world rankings, but is expected to go up if he keeps on winning. Steve won with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Steve will be facing Jack Sock in the next round.

Ryan Harrison was also defeated by a tennis veteran James Blake(USA), who was currently demoted from the top 100. Blake was ranked number 4 in 2006, which was his highest in his career. Ryan Harrison is a young 20 year old American tennis player who is ranked 43rd in the world rankings. Ryan took to first set easily with a score of 6-1, but Blake made a comeback and took the next two sets, 6-3, 7-5, resulting in the win of James Blake. 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. This win was Blake’s 350th career victory! Congratulations!

Besides the results, the top 30 players who are playing in this match are, Mardy Fish (USA), John Isner (USA), Kei Nishikori (JPN), and Andy Roddick (USA).
