Wimbledon – Day 5 Results

It’s the fifth day at Wimbledon, and on this day, three  seeds have been dismissed by non seed players. Say good bye to Juan Monaco, Milos Raonic, and Fernando Verdasco.

Juan Monaco, the 15th seed in Wimbledon, has been defeated by Viktor Troicki (ranked 34th in the world rankings) in straight sets of 7-5, 7-5, 6-3. Milos Raonic (seed No. 21) lost when he played Sam Querry, ranked 64th in the world rankings with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. As for Fernando Verdasco (seed No. 17), he lost against Xavier Malisse with a score of 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Xavier Malisse is currently ranked 75th in the world rankings, and he has won one grand slam title in doubles at Roland Garros in 2004. He has 9 titles in total (of which 3 of them are from singles).

Not only Verdasco and Monaco, but Janko Tipsarevic (seed No. 8) was defeated by seed No. 26 Mikhail Youzhny with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Another upper seed, Nicolas Almagro (No. 12 seed) was defeated by Richard Gasquet, who is the 18th seed in Wimbledon, in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Alejandro Falla lost against Denis Istomin with a score of 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-7.

Florian Mayer (No. 31 seed) won against J. Janowicz with a score of 7-6, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have been playing their matches steadily and have both advanced to the next round.

Roger Federer(3) vs Julien Benneteau(29) – 4-6, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6, 6-1.
